PROJECTS

Environmental Psychology

Environmental psychology can be applied wherever people are. Environmental psychology can be applied in many ways: to see how well an existing environment or building is functioning, to scientifically underpin visions or strategies, to test all stages of the design process, or as a Post-Occupancy Evaluation. Always with the same goal: to create an environment in which people thrive.

Laurentius Hospital Roermond

FEATURED PROJECT

Healing environment hospital new

This project is a good example of how environmental psychology can be applied. By being involved at the beginning of the project to think about the vision and how the building can contribute to the organization’s strategic goals, an environment can be created that brings out the best in people and the organization.

The ambition of the Laurentius Hospital Roermond (LZR) is to ensure that the new and renovated outpatient departments, nursing wards and hotfloor are optimally attuned to the wishes and needs of the various patients, visitors and staff. The LZR wants to use the existing knowledge about Evidence Based Design, Healing Environment and Planetree. Studio dVO was asked to contribute and secure this knowledge.

Studio dVO translated the principles of Evidence Based Design and Healing Environment into a vision and an environmental-psychological program of requirements. It also reviewed the drawings at the various design stages for Healing Environment principles and assisted in the evaluation of the final result.
